At Home with Sabrina Soto

Last night, in a gorgeous apartment on the Upper West Side, Target threw a housewarming party for New York-newbie Sabrina Soto, HGTV host and Target Style Expert for Home.

After packing up her bags in Bethesda, MD, Sabrina headed to the big city for a new place… and a new excuse for a flawless home makeover. Sabrina is usually busy making design miracles come true for homeowners on her hit HGTV show “The High/Low Project,” but this project was all about her.

At the intimate rendezvous, we ignored the scrumptious-looking hors d’oeuvres and crisp cocktails to feast on décor instead. As expected, Sabrina’s apartment was pristine, stylish and completely covetable.

At first glance (okay, so it was more of an intense exploration) it seemed as if no expenses were spared in the airy, colorful, chic and stunning pad. But in true high-low form, Sabrina decorated her dream dwelling with thrifty décor finds and high style elements.

“I believe great design is aspirational, but also easily achieved,” said Sabrina. “I’ve struck a balance between key investment pieces (like the art and furniture), and saved on more affordable accents to add color, texture and life to my space. “

Color popped up everywhere –from a bright blue painting against stark white walls to the funky, yellow chandelier dangling over the dining room table. Sabrina’s down-to-earth design philosophy came across in every nook and cranny of the beautiful space.

“When I moved into this apartment from having a whole house (and a lot more storage!), I wanted solutions that made the most of the smaller space. I needed ideas and products that looked great and did the job at a reasonable price,” said Sabrina.

We took notes from the home-style savant over the course of the soirée – literally. We could use a tip or two in our tiny, five-floor walk-up! This is New York after all, where square footage is a revered novelty, and Sabrina exquisitely made the most of her space. Her blend of comfort and class melted into such a warm and cheery haven and home that it was hard to leave!
