Carissa Moore Target Beach Tips

Squats and leg presses work wonders, but there’s nothing like a healthy dose of confidence to look—and feel—great in a swimsuit. No one knows this better than Hawaiian surfing star Carissa Moore. The 20-year-old pro athlete was basically born in a bikini, so she learned to embrace her body early on.

Below, she lets us in on the secret to feeling fabulous year-round.

How do you prep for swimsuit season?
I pretty much live in a bathing suit all year round, so I just try to eat clean and healthy to stay feeling good and confident. The most important thing is confidence! If you’ve got that, you will rock swimsuit season.

How do you stay confident?
The biggest thing to staying confident in a swimsuit is self-acceptance and not caring what other people think. Easier said than done, of course. Just know that many people are in the exact same situation and feel the same way.

Do you have any beach body fitness tips?
I think the combination of eating healthy and staying active is the most important thing. Personally, I love hiking and boxing. You forget you’re working out because it’s so much fun!

What are your beach beauty tips?
I’m really low maintenance. I hardly do anything special before or after surf session. I use a great L’Oreal hair oil that I rub into towel dry hair after surfing to keep my hair healthy. The salt and sun can do some major damage to hair!

What’s in your beach bag?
Target has some great products for every part of my life. The Up & Up spray sunscreen is one of my favorites because you can self-apply. I always munch on Monster trail mix—the one with M&M’s—to keep me satisfied in between surf sessions.

How is the surf season going so far?
The season so far is going great. I’m having so much fun traveling to each place and surfing. I feel like I’m in a really good place at the moment, and really excited about what I am doing.

If you weren’t surfing, what would you be doing?
If I weren’t surfing, I’d probably be studying to become a teacher and hopefully traveling at the same time—just spending time with family and doing what makes me happy!
